Psalm : 84
I was reading this scripture and it hit my heart so hard like a thunderbolt. Have you ever been hungry and desperate for the Lord so much till your soul (your sense of identity, your emotions, a place where your freedom is rooted) becomes homesick for the courts of the Lord.
Then your heart and flesh too responds to the yearning of your emotions by singing for joy to the living God. You long till you cannot speak anymore, your words turn into singing.
David compares this to a sparrow and a swallow who can even lay her eggs at the altar yet with him, he longs just to be there. He reflects on the life of those who are there, those who dwell in the tents of God, he says blessed are they for they will be forever singing, when they pass through the valley of Baca (Baca has been translated either as ‘weeping’ or ‘balsam trees’ (which grow in dry places). Alternatively, it could be figurative. In this interpretation, even the dry, arid places through which the pilgrims pass are brought alive by their expectant joy as they near their destination). For they make it a place of springs; the early rain also fills [the pools] with blessings. They go from strength to strength [increasing in victorious power]; each of them appears before God in Zion.
He then goes back to His prayer and says; O Lord hear my prayer in Vs 1-2 He longs to dwell in the house of the Lord for he knows when he dwells there, every painful situation, every mourning will last only for a moment, there is blessing after the pain, there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
My dear ones, the best thing you ought to do right now, is to crave for him like nothing else For the Lord God is a Sun and Shield; the Lord bestows [present] grace and favor and [future] glory (honor, splendor, and heavenly bliss)! No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly, blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) is the man who trusts in the Lord [leaning and believing on Him, committing all and confidently looking to Him, and that without fear or misgiving]!
Hey I know what you will go for this time round. Longing for Him, pursue Him till u find him.
Shalom and love you all
Psalm 84 (Amplified Bible)
To the Chief Musician; set to a Philistine lute, or [possibly] a particular Gittite tune. A Psalm of the sons of Korah.
1HOW LOVELY are Your tabernacles, O Lord of hosts!
2My soul yearns, yes, even pines and is homesick for the courts of the Lord; my heart and my flesh cry out and sing for joy to the living God.
3Yes, the sparrow has found a house, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young–even Your altars, O Lord of hosts, my King and my God.
4Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) are those who dwell in Your house and Your presence; they will be singing Your praises all the day long. Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]!
5Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) is the man whose strength is in You, in whose heart are the highways to Zion.
6Passing through the Valley of Weeping (Baca), they make it a place of springs; the early rain also fills [the pools] with blessings.
7They go from strength to strength [increasing in victorious power]; each of them appears before God in Zion.
😯 Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer; give ear, O God of Jacob! Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]!
9Behold our shield [the king as Your agent], O God, and look upon the face of Your anointed!
10For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand [anywhere else]; I would rather be a doorkeeper and stand at the threshold in the house of my God than to dwell [at ease] in the tents of wickedness.
11For the Lord God is a Sun and Shield; the Lord bestows [present] grace and favor and [future] glory (honor, splendor, and heavenly bliss)! No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly.
12O Lord of hosts, blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) is the man who trusts in You [leaning and believing on You, committing all and confidently looking to You, and that without fear or misgiving]!
